Monday night, Connecticut trounced Purdue in the national title game, becoming the first team since Noah-era Florida to go back-to-back and cementing not just a dynasty in Storrs1 but a legitimate coaching legend in Dan Hurley. Dude’s floor for national titles now sits at Dean Smith levels and could absolutely find its way up to Coach K’s rarefied air. It’s in play.
And that’s nice. And it was a fun tournament for a lot of reasons—DJ Burns Jr., Zach Edey going out on his shield, the game of the tournament between North Carolina and Alabama, Virginia falling face-first into a pit, a couple of fun little upsets. Basketball remains the best sport, and I am thrilled to devote so much time to watching it every season.
