That programming note is this: I’ve been on a work trip this week which has involved tons of walking and left me completely wiped out. Month Three Awards are coming this weekend; I shall set the stage for you WMDHeads first.
A primer: this is the weekend your spouse/family/kids/dogs/hobbies will get you. “No football! Come to our open house/brunch/nude yoga/wine-and-cheese pairing event!” You might fall victim to this, for the season is long and full of wonders, even when Elon is playing. If you’ve got a finite amount of screen time ahead this weekend, let’s be sure you make the most of it.
As always, the weekend starts at 7 p.m. ET on Friday; Eastern Michigan repeatedly putting the Emoni Bates Redemption Tour on a half-hour early before we start is good for my pre-viewing plans, and for the kids.
Must Watch (Times ET)
No. 12 Gonzaga at No. 18 Saint Mary’s, 10:30 p.m., Saturday (ESPN)
Saint Mary’s. Want to talk to you.
I don’t know if this is the weakest Gonzaga team since the Bulldogs went from polite story to legitimate March terror; that’s for people who make their living screaming at one another on cable television to decide.
But what I do know is that in the wake of lottery picks and one-and-dones and titles and near-misses and the rest of the last decade of Gonzaga dominance, they’ve never been as vulnerable as they are right now. Drew Timme is still Drew Timme; Julian Strawther remains a top-notch glue guy. After that? Lot of question marks.
Can Rasir Bolton break out of a season-long malaise?
Can Anton Watson take on a little more?
Is there another level Malachi Smith can rise to?
