I assume Nate Oats and Nick Saban have one another’s cell numbers. And I wouldn’t be stunned if one reached out to the other over the last few weeks to ask some questions or offer some guidance on what happens when you go from prey to predator.
(Oats has already indicated he’s not against asking other people for counsel.)
But that’s the lot now for the Crimson Tide; Alabama is not just the top seed in the South but 1-1 and with all the trappings that come with it. This is not the standard for which Alabama has been accustomed; we’re less than a decade removed from Alabama regularly finishing with sub-.500 league records and being a semi-permanent fixture in the NIT. Things are different now.
(You’ll note I didn’t say better, considering the goings-on.)
The Crimson Tide are the cream of the South, but will they emerge victorious? Who might topple them? Is there a Saint Peter’s to be found here? A quick South preview before the games begin this week.

3 Favorites: As the top overall seed, it would be nonsensical to leave Alabama out of this discussion. Arizona won the Pac 12, has the two-headed post monster of Oumar Ball and Azuolas Tubelis, and Creighton has been my muse all year; where my #KalkHeads at?
