Welcome to The Hangover, a semi-regular offseason item I’ve elected to start on weeks such as this, when children/work/travel/obligation have elected to cut deeply into both my subconscious and my time (or, failing at that, when there’s nothing particularly noteworthy happening). The promise of two things per week holds true, and thus has been born this attempt at offering news, tips, tricks and tales for better living until college basketball returns.
How is this different than just ranting and raving about whatever I want? Mind your own damn business is how.
The Shakes
I miss watching Aidan Mahaney.
Every year or two, there’s a player who burrows into my basketball psyche and won’t leave, and right now it’s Mahaney, all floppy hair and hitch-in-his-giddyup and annoyingly flawless form on spot-ups and tight handles and utterly fearless forays to the basket. Yeah, I watch his highlights. We’re on Month 6 of Time Without College Basketball, and unlike football spring games, it’s rare to find any sort of promoted intrasquad scrimmage to satiate one’s desire for basketball. You take the fix where you can find it.
Ahhh yeah baby that’s the jam.
