Here it is.
As a general rule, I think bagging on individual writers is low-hanging fruit that others should avoid. Anyone who has ever written a word to be consumed by anyone outside of immediate relatives or a classroom setting has unfurled his or her share of terrible ideas, things they should have thought twice about before saying or things that should have gone to the grave rather than the page. While I loved Gary Parrish’s old Poll Attacks column because it held people accountable when they did a glaring fuck-up, I always thought it was done both in good faith for both writers (because he was indiscriminate in his criticism and I think the spotlight forced people to take the vote more seriously lest they be shamed) and fans (to help them understand the process and how one or two wild voting choices can impact the whole poll).
But pointing and laughing at bad group thought? That’s fair game.
